How can I become a listener?

If you live in the Swindon area, and you are unable to read a newspaper because you are blind, visually impaired or have other disabilities, you are eligible to receive The Swindon Talking Newspaper (STAN) on a memory stick, every week.

The newspaper contains local news items from the Swindon Evening Advertiser, and features such as sport and thought for the week. The service costs nothing to the listener. The circulated memory stick is FREE, including postage.

If you don’t have the facilities to listen to the MP3 sound files contained on the memory sticks, we can lend a player to you, and that is also free.

The talking newspaper memory sticks are sent out each Thursday by post, and usually arrive with the listener on Friday morning. You then have the weekend to listen to the content. Listeners are asked to put the memory sticks back in the post on the following Monday, so they will arrive back with us on Tuesday ready for wiping clean and re-recording the following day. Again, there is no charge to the listener for postage.
