How can I become a listener?

If you are interested in information, news, and entertainment, and you are unable to read a newspaper because you are blind or visually impaired, you can receive The Swindon Talking Newspaper (STAN) on a memory stick, every fortnight.

The recordings contain local news items from the Swindon Advertiser, features such as sport and other interesting items. The service is free to the listener. The circulated memory stick is free, including postage, but if you don't have the facilities to listen to it then STAN can lend you a player that is also free.

The talking newspaper memory sticks are sent every fortnight on a Thursday by post in a reusable plastic wallet, and usually arrive on Friday morning. You then have ten days to listen to the content. STAN asks that you try to post the wallet back (free of charge) at the latest a few days before the next recording in a fortnights time. If you have not finished listening to the memory stick, please hold on to it, and return the wallet empty. Just pop the memory stick in the next time you return the wallet.
